SlideShare issues

We’re sorry to hear you’re having trouble with our report embeds. There may be a few possible causes for these issues; this page offers some suggestions for fixing the problems that we know about.

The SlideShare embed is visible, but it doesn’t work properly

If you can see the SlideShare embed, but the slides don’t progress when you click the arrows, it’s possible that your browser is having problems with third-party cookies. SlideShare needs to set third-party cookies in order for its embeds to work, so if you have turned these cookies off – or if your company or school blocks them – our report embeds won’t work.

In this case, you have a few options:

  • If you don’t want to turn third-party cookies on – or if you don’t have the necessary privileges to enable them on your computer –  the simplest solution is to visit our DataReportal page on SlideShare. The SlideShare site doesn’t need to set third-party cookies in order to show presentations, so you should be able to read all of our reports there without any problems.

  • Alternatively, if you’re comfortable allowing third-party cookies for the DataReportal website, you can try turning them on selectively for our site (you can see our privacy policy here). If you need help with that, this page will help you understand what to do in Chrome, and this page has similar guidance for Firefox.

You may encounter similar problems if you’re using an ad blocker. If you think this might be part of the problem, you could try ‘whitelisting’ DataReportal in your ad blocking tool’s allowed or ‘safe sites’ list, or you could try turning off your ad blocker while you use this site to see if that makes a difference.

The SlideShare embed doesn’t show at all

If you can’t see the report embed at all, the problem may be more complex.

If you’ve been reading a report page in a mobile browser using either “Reader mode” or AMP, the report embeds may not be included in those technologies’ streamlined content, so try loading the original page instead (our library is a good place to start looking for what you need).

If that doesn’t fix the problem, or if you weren’t using either of these technologies to start with, try visiting another of our report pages. If you can see report embeds on other pages, the report embed code on the original page you were trying to access may be broken. If that’s the case, please email us to tell us which page isn’t working properly.

If you can’t see embeds on any of the pages on our website, try visiting our SlideShare page.

If that still doesn’t work, it may mean that your organisation blocks SlideShare as part of its firewall settings. Please also note that SlideShare is not available in some countries (e.g. China). If you’re trying to access our reports from countries where SlideShare is not available, you might want to try using a Virtual Private Network (VPN). Unfortunately, we don’t have an alternative hosting solution to SlideShare at this time, so a VPN is the only practical solution if you can’t access SlideShare’s website.
